A Letter to Myself

Tonight you are going to have a long talk with your parents about who or what you are. Your mom is going to ask you about the girls clothes in you room and who’s they are. Your dad is going to just sit there and stair at you. You want to just tell them your girlfriend had left them in your car after the football game. Don’t lie to them. Tell them the truth. First look at your dad and tell him that things will be ok and life isn’t all about just choosing what he thinks might be right. Then look your mom and tell her you love her. Tell your parents that the clothes are yours and you hate wearing boys’ clothes. You must stand up with this. Tell your mom that she always wanted a daughter and here you are. Make sure that both of them understand this is not a choice but who you are. You are going to cry and so are they. But stand firm and don’t back down. Tell them you have always known you were born wrong. Take a breath here and wait a minute. After letting this sink in ask them if they have any questions. Then try to answer anything they ask you. Make sure to tell them the right answers that you have already been reading online. At this point you need to be ready to get kicked out though it might not happen as of yet. Tell them you need them to take you to your doctor so you can start hormones as soon as possible. They are going to ask you if you are crazy. Tell them you are not and this is something that must happen or you are going to start taking pills behind their backs. Tell them that if you do this it could really hurt you because you are not a doctor and you don’t know what pills do what. Your mom and dad are going to think that something has happened to you. Of course nothing has but you have to tell them this. Don’t blame anyone or anything on your gender identity. Remember this is who you dream of being every night. Tell your parents that you need their help but that even without that help you will get what you need. Tell them that you have to have this to ever have a somewhat normal life. Make sure to tell them that this will make you a happier person and that they don’t have to worry about you anymore. They can finally stop thinking something is wrong with you because now they know. They will now be able to help you with your problem. They are not going to except this but you will be much better off. They will tell you it is just a phase and it will pass but do not let them push you like that. Push them back and show them you are not going to back down. If they ask tell them you plan on going all the way and having the surgery to finally be who you are on the inside. Once again tell them you love them and you will expect a doctors appointment within the week. Give both your mom and dad hugs and go to bed to let them think and talk to each other. In the morning don’t let them act like your talk didn’t happen and ask your mom when she plans to call your doctor. Get ready for school and look forward to a new day. When at school tell all your friends who you are and who you are going to become. Then enjoy your new life to the fullest.

Redesign Reflection

This assignment was a good look into how we can use what is already out there and make it our own. We could take what looks like a simple idea and by changing that idea to something new find out that its not that simple. You really had to think about what you were doing and how you were going to do it.
As for deciding what ad I was going to use was somewhat limited for me. I only had one magazine that I could use in my house. And of course having four kids of my own it was a parents magazine. So I took an ad that meant something for me and my children. It had a healthy aspect and tastes good too.
When I was thinking about how I would redesign this ad I thought about my dad. He was always saying he needed more energy to play with his grandchildren so it was pretty easy. Then I just pictured what I wanted to do with the ad in my mind. I think it came out fairly good.
To do an ad it takes a lot of thinking and remembering who you are targeting for the ad. So coming up with the perfect person for me to target older men was a challenge so I thought about someone that all men like. After thinking about this I then did a search for famous men fifty plus. Of course the person I wanted was on this list so I went with it.
For me not being very creative by nature I really didn't like this assignment. It was something that really took a lot out of me to do. I am normally a very good writer and I thought that would help me but with the redesign it really didn't help out that much.
I learned a lot from this writing assignment. It really made me think and look at things from another perspective. I had to draw on an inner writing side that I didn't even know was there till now. I have a much greater understanding of how to write in the third person and what it means to really have to think about things logically.
If I had to rewrite this assignment I wouldn't write anything differently. I would however do a little more research on how ads are done. This would have given me more to work with on my ad.

I went and watched the Ford F150 commercial they think they have the best truck ever. Their way of thinking is that the Ford truck is the most tuff truck ever build. You can tell from the fact that they come right out and say it in their commercial. They also put things in showing how powerful the truck is. The focus group for this truck is men. It uses men going and doing men things to pull them into how great the F150 is. This is Dominant-hegemonic and focused on men having a truck that can do everything they want. I get this from the fact the its got all men and going camping or to work with building material.

            Why is writing important?
Writing is important for many reasons. Writing has being around wince the beginning of time with symbols and then to forms of text. Without having forms of writing there would be so much information lost to the word. As most people can not remember things for a few days or hours even this is a way that everyone can remember. Some of the most important things that have happened in the history of the world would be lost to us, or changed in unspeakable ways in the telling and retelling of the event.

For me becoming a Physicians Assistant I will have to write such things as scripts for patience's to take and get the medicine they need from the store. This kind of writing not only helps me to keep track of what someone is taking but helps the of Doctors to know and fill the prescriptions. It helps to keep people from getting more sick and have thing things mixed that should not be. As a PA writing will also let me write down ideas of how people should be treated and new was that I could help them. With this information other doctors could add to or edit the idea. This is how the medical world takes ideas and turns them into new cures and medicine for the world. Without writing these ideas would get changed so badly that in the end no one would be better and everyone would still be sick all the time.

These are the ways in which writing has been used and will forever be used. Writing can never be stopped without the human race stopping in its progression of becoming more than it once was. All history would become legends and no one would be left that knows the truth.
